With all the new growth and changes happening at YouYoga….I thought it important to share with you the teachers of YouYoga too. We want you to know our stories, our passion, and what our goals are while sharing our teachings with our students.

So, over the next several days/weeks I’ll be posting our bios and photos in an attempt to give each of you a greater picture of who we are at YouYoga….as each of us strive to let your yoga practice be reflective of YOU!

Introducing Maris Dimayuga Aylward February 6, 2012

YOUYOGA is feeling very fortunate to add yet another wonderful instructor to our space.  Maris Dimayuga Aylward brings her own personal story to her yoga practice.  She is an example of how yoga can begin as a physical activity, and without a step by step plan…… yoga slowly begins to impact your whole being  in ways that are beneficial to self, as well as those around you.  Please welcome Maris to YOUYOGA  with an open heart, and we feel confident that you’ll enjoy sharing your practice with her……..in the near future she just might be sharing with YOU how to get your “sweat on” during a Gentle Hot Yoga practice.

 

Welcome to YOUYOGA Maris Dimayuga Aylward

My yoga journey began back home in the Philippines in 2003.  Starting a yoga practice and radically changing my diet and habits were among the best decisions I’ve made in my life.  In Manila, I explored different styles such as Hatha, Ashtanga, Bikram, and Vinyasa Flow. As I practiced over the years, I discovered how to nurture myself, to listen to my body, and to be simply grateful for whatever the present moment brings.

Yoga started out as a physical activity and slowly evolved into a deeper practice that helps my psychological and spiritual growth. Upon moving to the U.S. in 2010, I got started on the yoga teaching path and trained with Yoga Fit Levels 1 and 2.  I have also completed a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training at KC Fitness Link with Darryl Olive. It brings me great joy to share yoga with my students and to witness them enjoying the many benefits of this wonderful practice.

 

Introducing Danelle Drury January 25, 2012

YOUYOGA in Overland Park, Ks is happy to announce the addition of  yoga instructor Danelle Drury.  She shares the same passion for yoga….seeing the practice of yoga as a way to bring out the best that already lies within self.  We feel that she will be a wonderful addition to YOUYOGA, and as things unfold we’re looking forward to adding more classes and opportunities for the whole family to begin, as well as develop a yoga practice.  Please receive Danelle with warmth and acceptance as she shares her vision, and love of yoga with YOU.

Welcome to YOUYOGA Danelle Drury

I have been doing Yoga for about ten years. It started out as just a physical workout, to improve strength, balance, flexibility – – but almost without my noticing, it grew into a spiritual journey too, and I found yoga permeating every aspect of my life. It helped me as a singer, an actor, a grade school teacher, a daughter, a partner, a friend. It really helps me be a better version of myself while, at the same time, helping me discover and appreciate who that really is. I found myself teaching yoga in my drama classes, to help with posture, relaxation and focus, and using yoga in my own acting career to balance and calm myself before going onstage.

 In 2006 I was lucky enough to spend some time in Ireland with my aunt, a wonderful and inspiring yogi and yoga teacher, helping out in her yoga studio office and assisting with teaching kids yoga classes.  I thought, “When I grow up, I want to be a yoga teacher!” I don’t know that I’ve grown up yet,  but I did my formal yoga teacher training though KC Fitness Link, and am so blessed every day by the every widening circle of yoga students, teachers and practitioners that I now find myself surrounded by.

 I love how, as Inyengar says, yoga means…”all our bones, flesh, fibers, ligaments, joints, senses, mind and intelligence are harnessed. In this way, the practice of asana, performed with all elements of our being, awakens and sharpens intelligence, until it is integrated with our senses, our mind, our memory, our consciousness and our soul.” And I love how yoga teaches us to be in the moment, day by day, accepting where we are just now and knowing that, “if you learn a lot of little things, one day you end up knowing a big thing.”

YOUYOGA in Overland Park, Ks at 9563 W. 87th St has expanded its space and now it’s expanding its class offerings!  The NEW class schedule will begin the week of February 20, 2012.  We’ve added 7 NEW classes that will give options to all of students no matter their needs, or goals.  So, we’ll be looking forward to seeing YOU and sharing in your practice………

FEBRUARY SPECIAL:

During the entire month, if the day of the week begins with the letter ‘T” then it must be time for 2 for 1 yoga. Bring a friend to YOUYOGA on Tuesday or Thursday, and   the 2 of you can enjoy your practice for the cost of 1.
